The European Network Remembrance and Solidarity is organising two free summer schools in 2025 for students and young professionals in the arts and humanities aged 18-26. The application deadline for both open calls: 6 May 2025

We particularly recommend the summer school Freedom of Speech Beyond Borders in which the Research Center for Eastern Europe at the University of Bremen is participating and which provides a good insight into samizdat from East Central Europe.

An interdisciplinary project that provides an opportunity to study the phenomenon of underground literature and art from the Cold War period – known as samizdat and tamizdat. Through participation in online seminars, on-site archival research, interviews with former publishers and creative workshops, participants will work to gather material and conclude the visits with the collaborative creation of a zine.
