Scholarship I Target groups and conditions

The friends of the Research Centre issue scholarships for archive and research stays at the Research Centre for East European Studies in Bremen. These scholarships are for master students, postgraduates, PhD students, junior and senior researchers. On the one hand, the scholarships serve to conduct individual research in the archive at FSO and/or with the aid of research databases of FSO’s Department of Politics and Economics. On the other hand, scholarship holders are obligated to support our archive through sorting those materials, they are working with, and to provide descriptions.

Because of the war in Ukraine, the Association of the Friends of the Research Centre is now offering additional scholarships for refugee researchers from Ukraine and for threatened researchers from Russia and Belarus. Thereby, the association gives them the opportunity to arrive in Germany and to continue their research projects in Bremen. The scholars will be supported in their search for further funding opportunities.

The stays are funded with a sum of EUR 1.000  for a duration of one month. In the case that children have also fled with the recipients, the amount is increased by EUR 500.

Background I Information

The project outline to be presented in the application form should relate to the research centre's profile topics of one of the departments (department of history and culture, department of politics and economics).

Please fill in the Application Form in English or German language. Threatened scientists from Russia and Belarus must enclose an official proof of endangerment with the application. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
Please send the application form as one .pdf-file to the friends of the Research Centre for East European Studies, fsov@uni-bremen.de. A decision on the awarding of the scholarships will be made within two weeks of receipt of the application.
